Welcome to our June newsletter. We are pleased to bring you an overview of the most important activities and events that took place within our project during the past month.
Live Broadcast on European Elections
From June 5th to 9th, we successfully conducted a live broadcast on the European elections directly from Brussels. For the first time, partners from the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, France, Sweden, and Slovakia joined our team. The broadcast, which was watched by more than 200 viewers, included various information about the European Parliament elections, quizzes, and historical facts. Third working meeting with DJE Partners in Groningen
On 18th and 19th June, our third working meeting with Deaf Journalism Europe (DJE) project partners took place in Groningen. This meeting was the penultimate in a series of four planned meetings, with the final meeting to be held in Paris. During these two days, we jointly evaluated the project’s activities to date, discussed the results achieved, and planned next steps.
International seminar on television and journalism
Immediately after the meeting, on 21st and 22nd June, we organized an International Seminar on Television and Journalism in Groningen. The program included presentations on topics such as “The Role of Deaf Journalists in the Deaf Community” and “The Use of Artificial Intelligence in Journalism”. Renowned experts from various countries spoke, and we also discussed the future of the European network of media organisations for the Deaf. New international article: “Audism – An Invisible Discrimination”
At the end of June, we published our first international article titled “Audism – An Invisible Discrimination”. This article is part of a larger work package within our project, which includes a total of 20 articles. It is the first in this series to bring content in International Sign with video accessibility.
